A Simple Separable C*-algebra Not Isomorphic to Its opposite Algebra
We give an example of a simple separable C*-algebra which is not isomorphic to its opposite algebra. Our example is nonnuclear and stably finite, has real rank zero and stable rank one, and has a unique tracial state. It has trivial K1, and its K0-group is order isomorphic to a countable subgroup of R.
متن کاملA Nonseparable Amenable Operator Algebra Which Is Not Isomorphic to a C∗-algebra
It has been a longstanding problem whether every amenable operator algebra is isomorphic to a (necessarily nuclear) C∗-algebra. In this note, we give a nonseparable counterexample. The existence of a separable counterexample remains an open problem.
متن کاملA simple, monotracial, stably projectionless C*-algebra
We construct a simple, nuclear, stably projectionless C∗-algebra W which has trivial Ktheory and a unique tracial state, and we investigate the extent to which W might fit into the hierarchy of strongly self-absorbing C∗-algebras as an analogue of the Cuntz algebra O2. In this context, we show that every nondegenerate endomorphism of W is approximately inner and we construct a tracepreserving e...
متن کاملLinear Algebra Approach to Separable Bayesian Networks
Separable Bayesian Networks, or the Influence Model, are dynamic Bayesian Networks in which the conditional probability distribution can be separated into a function of only the marginal distribution of a node’s parents, instead of the joint distributions. We describe the connection between an arbitrary Conditional Probability Table (CPT) and separable systems using linear algebra. We give an a...
متن کاملSimple nuclear C*-algebras not isomorphic to their opposites.
We show that it is consistent with Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory with the axiom of choice (ZFC) that there is a simple nuclear nonseparable [Formula: see text]-algebra, which is not isomorphic to its opposite algebra. We can furthermore guarantee that this example is an inductive limit of unital copies of the Cuntz algebra [Formula: see text] or of the canonical anticommutation relations (CAR) al...
